Women’s Manual Lymphatic Drainage
-
Primarily, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is used to promote optimal functioning of the lymphatic vessels, facilitating the removal of metabolic waste, toxins, bacteria, excess water, etc from tissues via the lymphatic system.
MLD has powerful cleaning, detoxifying and immunological effects on the body giving it the prevention of and recovery from illness it needs.
Unlike the circulatory system, which it works closely with, the lymphatic system does not have a pump. If the pathways become congested or damaged, then fluids and toxins build up, oxygenation and nourishment is reduced, leading to sluggishness, bloating, inflammation, reduced immunity and even chronic disease.

Lymph is located just millimeters under the skin. Using the Vodder technique, this treatment is actually performed without oils, using only the hands in order to have the friction required and be able to stretch and release the skin enabling a pumping effect to move the stagnant lymph, redirecting it to healthy lymph nodes.
MLD is wonderfully relaxing and many people go into a restorative state of rest and relaxation due to its very slow and gentle, circular, rhythmic movements. We always begin with deep diaphragmatic breathing and start in the neck area to clear the ‘terminus’. We will also work with lymph around the breast tissue, the axillary and groin area, and the abdomen.

Item description
Using the Vodder technique, MLD involves very light, rhythmic, pumping movements and stretching of the skin to redirect the flow of lymph in the body, aiding drainage of waste, toxins, excess fluid, detoxifying the body.
It also has a very relaxing calming effect on the nervous system, relieving stress and lowering cortisol. This underestimated therapy has a powerful cleansing, anti-inflammatory effect, giving the immune system a reset and boost.
Choose as a standalone treatment or as a package of 3 for maximum effect. Add the option of dry brushing to your treatment at booking. Performed before the MLD, dry brushing using light pressure will boost blood flow and stimulate the lymphatic system to aid detoxification, maximising the effect of the session.
